Pennsylvania German Style Cole Slaw

This recipe was handed down to me by my mother-in-law many decades ago, and it is by far, the best Cole Slaw recipe around. Easy and quick, nothing fancy, just basic ingredients that make a wonderful and delicious slaw.

You will need a FOOD PROCESSOR to make this recipe. Use the shredding blade on your machine.

Ingredients are cabbage, carrot, onion (the secret ingredient), mayonnaise, salt and pepper, and about 2 tablespoons of milk or cream.  A bit of red pepper can also be added if you like. The red pepper is totally optional.

If the head of cabbage you purchase is quite large, I would only use 1/2 of it for this recipe.

Shred all of the vegetables in the food processor, then place into a large mixing bow. Add about 3/4 to 1 cup of mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste, and 1 or 2 tablespoons of milk.

Stir well until all ingredients are meshed together well.

A nice garnish is fresh tomato wedges and hard boiled egg wedges, sprinkled with a little bit of red pepper.cole slaw finishedcole slaw with mayo
